			During June 2021, Guard was diagnosed with a form of terminal cancer and told by physicians that he had only a few weeks to live. On September 24, Guard attended a football game at the high school where he taught physics in order to bid farewell to students and colleagues. Guard passed away on October 8 2021.

Because of the devastation associated with the loss of her mother and Hitler's own detachment from his half-brother, any records of his birth were destroyed.
